ELECTRICAL ENGINEER - PRINCIPAL

Preferred locations: Denver CO, Chicago IL, or Columbus OH. Other US locations may be available.

Responsible for influencing the technical direction and growth of the company. Creative mind willing to challenge the status quo with a collaborative personality to serve as a subject matter expert and technology ambassador. Must possess a passionate interest in power circuit design, material science, electrochemistry, and thermal dynamics, with a self-driven nature to leverage those interests into energy storage product applications and associated intellectual property for the company. RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Serve as a subject matter expert and technology ambassador for the company
  • Perform gap analyses of intellectual property and develop plans to close those gaps.
  • Identify, develop, and collaborate with industry partners to address new technologies and markets
  • Identify market trends and correlate those to technology needs and competencies for the company to successfully address those markets
  • Work with various internal design engineering groups globally to foster knowledge transfer throughout the company.
  • Perform competitive analyses to ensure we stay on the forefront of our industry
  • Prepare technical reports and presentations for internal teams and external customers.
  • Develop experiments and qualification plans to validate new technologies
  • Establish a culture of knowledge sharing, openness and innovation.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • Minimum of Bachelor in Electrical Engineering with 5-10 years of experience in the consumer, telecom, automotive, and/or military industries. Masters degree a plus but not mandatory.
  • Recent experience with electrical design for high power and high voltage energy storage (battery) applications
  • State of the art design knowledge from electrical vehicle, energy storage, micro-grid or similar medium to large format battery application and markets.
  • Strong understanding of DC power electronics and the latest in battery management system designs is required.
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance standards relevant to energy storage and power supplies, and chargers is preferred.
  • Experience with electrical CAD modeling systems (i.e. Altium, Orcad) required; Altium preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal teams located globally as well as being comfortable interacting with external customers, suppliers, and technology partners.
